CSR + Scavenger Hunts = Win-Win

Everyone is aware of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and companies generally agree that it is important to weave CSR throughout the various functions of the organization. Corporate team building activities are no exception to this.

But here’s the big question: What is an activity that a group of employees can do as a one-off that is CSR-related but lasts a relatively short amount of time, such as a half-day? That is a question that people in the events industry have been wrestling with for years.

Introducing Pay It Forward. Available as an add-on to our corporate scavenger hunts, Pay It Forward takes a simple concept, giving back, and turns it into a meaningful activity. Here is how it works:

In our scavenger hunts, your corporate group is divided into teams and in addition to the regular tasks of the hunt, each team is given a quantity of money, usually $20-100. Teams are given the mandate to go out into the local community to make a difference while they are also in the process of completing typical scavenger hunt tasks.

Teams are assigned points based on their success in certain areas: the creativity of their idea, the number of people potentially impacted by their effort, the anticipated ROI on their time and money and the insights they generate.

Each team writes a brief report detailing their success during the program. As an optional add-on teams can use their phones to make a documentary of their team giving back.

Participants have fun, get to know each other better and get to make a difference at the same time.
