For the launch of the TV show Psych, NBC Universal hired Scavenger Hunt Anywhere to run a 10-city scavenger hunt in the US. Cities included New York, Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York and others. All hunts were run simultaneously and in each location. The maximum number of points participants could in each location earn were the same, creating a competition between each location to see who could get the same numbers of points.
To qualify for the scavenger hunt, radio station listeners had to call in to win their spot in the hunt, which was done in teams of two people. The scavenger hunt was customized around the detective / psychic theme, which was also the theme of Psych – the required tasks of answering questions, taking photos and visiting checkpoints all had some connection to this theme. Participants received a Psych baseball cap and a Psych T-shirt just for participating and prizes were awarded for the top team in each location and the top team overall.
